The 19th Galway Athenry Cubs attended the event with 17 Cubs and 8 Scouters attending. They had a blast with a full weekend oo Scouting activities provided.  The Athenry cubs where based in Sub-Camp Eskimo and the designed a game and fancy dress around this theme.

The Cubs returned on Monday afternoon at 4:45 tired but super excited about the “best camp” ever. Well done to all.

Cub Chief Scout Camp

Well done to all those Cubs who attend the recent Cub Chief Scout Camp over the weekend of April 22nd to April 24th. This camp was a required part of the Cubs Chief Scout Award and allowed the cubs to plan and partake in Camp with other cubs undertaking the Chief Scout Award.

As part of the award the Cubs had to cook a meal in a bucket which was then tasted by a team of tasters.

The Chief Scout can to visit and spent time with each group and departed to the sound of a grand howl.

Photos to follow.

St Patrick’s Day Parade

What a great turn out from the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts for the 2016 St Patrick’s Day Parade. Some many brilliant and exciting costumes based on the parade theme of “Rebellion”. Thank you to all the parents who helped with the costumes. A big thanks to all of the Scouts who built the camp site float over a long evening on Wednesday 16th March. Your help, enthusiasm and skill are greatly appreciated.

Due to all of your efforts the 19th Galway Athenry won one of prizes at the Parade. Well done to everyone involved.

Thank you SIP Energy for allowing us to borrow your truck for the parade.

Cubs visit a farm

The cubs had a great visit to the Cummins Dairy Farm, DerryDonnell on Tuesday 8th March. All of the cubs were kitted out in their wellies and hats. Everyone had a great time watching and feeding the animals. Some of the Scouters had a go as well, even those who grew up on a farm.
