Soap Carvings and Knife Safety

As part of an introduction to knife safety the Scouts have been working on some soap carvings. This allowed the Scouts to carefully learn the correct use of a knife, how to create stop cuts and carve some basic shapes.

Some very detailed and intricate carvings were created. The next step for the scouts is to work on some wood carvings.

Summer Time

With the longer evenings all three sections, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have where possible been meeting outside. Each of the sections has had a busy few weeks.

The Beavers have been on a Hike to Monivea woods, a bug hunt in Esker and a County Beaver Day where they got to Kayak for 2 hours.

The Cubs have been Orienteering, make costumes for Cub Camp and generally having some nice relaxed meetings.

The Scouts have tried Archery, been Hiking, working on some soap carvings as part of a Knife Safety Course, made some Balistas and are currently working on their Air Activities Stage One Badge.
