Over the weekend of Friday 15th September to Sunday 17th September the 19th Galway Athenry Scouts held their second Group camp in Esker, Athenry.
This camp was youth lead with each of the sections (Beavers/Cubs/Scouts/Ventures) responsible for and running a portion of the camp.
This was the first time our Beavers have camped with eight beavers camping over night. A great time was held by all.

What a great turn out from the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts for the 2017 St Patrick’s Day Parade. Some many brilliant and exciting costumes based on the parade theme of “Ceol agus Criac”. Thank you to all the parents who helped with the costumes. A big thanks to all of the Scouts who built the camp site float over a long evening on Thursday 16th March. Your help, enthusiasm and skill are greatly appreciated.
Due to all of your efforts the 19th Galway Athenry won one of prizes at the Parade. Well done to everyone involved.

Thanks to Cummins Farm, DerryDonnell for allowing the Athenry Cubs to invade their farm on Tuesday 14th March. The Cubs had a wonderful time and got to see many aspects of the farm including several calves. A great time was held by all.

Well Sunday 12th February was a busy day for the 19th Galway Athenry.
The Beavers under took their first hike of the year, hiking from the Boys School, Athenry to Esker Monastery a distance of 5.2 Km on a very very cold Sunday Afternoon. Along they way they learnt a little about Leave No Trace and enjoyed the outside. Once at Esker they had some Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows. See the photographs.
Beaver Hike
The Cubs also undertook their first hikw to the year around Abbey Hill, Co Clare. For several new Cubs this their first Hike while for others especially those coming from Beavers this hike allowed them to start working on thier Adventure Skills Hiking Stage 2. Cub Hike
Although not out Hike the Scouts also had a busy day attending the County Camp Kickoff meeeting and the County forum for Scouts.
Well done to all invovled.
As part of the 19th Galway Athenry Group Traditions the Cubs and Scouts attended the Galway City Ice Skating rink during the Christmas Holidays. Everyone had a brilliant time including those Scouters brave enough to venture onto the Ice.
