Tree Planting Completed

A word of thanks to the parents, leaders and especially the cubs (as well as honourary cubs for a day) who particpated in the tree planting around Athenry this morning. The conditions were difficult but everyone stuck to the task and the 19th Galway completed it’s task of planting >300 trees in a very swift fashion. The Tidy Towns Group were most appreciative. Some of the children were interviewed by Frances Shanahan (RTE’s Drive Time show) which may air on monday evening between 6-7pm, so listen out for that.

Photographs are available.

Tree Planting Saturday 23rd March 2013

The Cub Scouts will be helping the Athenry Tidy Towns group to plant trees on the morning of Saturday 23rd March.

Cubs are to assemble at 08:45am in the Mart car park. Please ensure a Leader acknowledges the Cubs presence before departing. Collection time is 11:00am sharp at the Mart car park.

We ask that:

  1. Cubs wear their uniforms (and bring rain gear in case of the inevitable)
  2. Cubs wear wellies (given that we will be digging and potentially getting muddy)
  3. In the interest of safety we recommend that the cubs wear hi-visibility vests on the day.
  4. Cubs bring a shovel (if available).
