Well done to all of the Leaders who have recently completed stage 4 of the Wood Badge Training Scheme. Thank you for giving up a Sunday.
The Scouts had an exciting Saturday/Sunday in Castle Ellen, Athenry, Co Galway. After meeting in Athenry, the scouts hiked to Castle Ellen carrying all of their gear. There were a few stops along the way.
Upon arrival sleeping quarters were set up and a small campfire created.
After an early wake up call by the Scouts breakfast was cooked, camp cleaned up and we hiked home.
Here are some photographs.
Thanks to the generosity of the Galway Flying Club, the Athenry Scouts had an opportunity to visit Galway City Airport. The flying club were very generous with their time and introduced the Scouts to some flying concepts, discussed Airport Safety and allowed the Scouts to sit in an aeroplane. A great visit which was enjoyed by all.
This visit allowed several Scouts to complete Stage 1 of the Air Adventure Skills Badge.
