Scouts Weekend in Kildare Scout Den

Over the weekend of the Friday 24th March to Sunday 26th March the Athenry Scouts undertook a weekend camp in the Kildare Scout Den. Travelling by Train the Scout were met by Kildare Scouts who showed them the way to the den.

While in Kildare the Scouts worked in Patrols which each patrol responsible for shopping and purchasing their food for the weekend,  preparing meals, cleaning the hall etc.

A highlight of the trip was a hike to the National Stud followed by two hours of free time in Kildare town. While at the National Stud several Scouts were invested into the Scout section.

Several Kildare scouts visited us for a Campfire on Saturday evening followed by some Scout skits, and Jiving.

Sunday morning was an early set with a clean up of the hall and a return train journey to Athenry.

Some Scouters had time for R&R.

Pancake Tuesday

Well done to all the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts who made some very delicious pancakes on Pancake Tuesday. Due to a slight techncial issue we only have photographs of the Beavers making pancakes.

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts in Action Sunday 12th February

Well Sunday 12th February was a busy day for the 19th Galway Athenry.

The Beavers under took their first hike of the year, hiking from the Boys School, Athenry to Esker Monastery a distance of 5.2 Km on a very very cold Sunday Afternoon. Along they way they learnt a little about Leave No Trace and enjoyed the outside. Once at Esker they had some Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows. See the photographs.

The Cubs also undertook their first hikw to the year around Abbey Hill, Co Clare. For several new Cubs this their first Hike while for others especially those coming from Beavers this hike allowed them to start working on thier Adventure Skills Hiking Stage 2. Although not out Hike the Scouts also had a busy day attending the County Camp Kickoff meeeting and the County forum for Scouts.
